Chris & Pitts
Chris & Pitt's started in 1949. This location on Artesia, just east of Bellflower Blvd. began in the early '60's and is the oldest surviving location. It's the one I went to as a young teen. There are only 3 Chris & Pitt's left as of this writing, but corporate says that they are looking for a new OC location since losing their lease on Euclid in Anaheim. Some of the staff members have been here for 30 years. There are two sisters and their aunt working together. The staff is excellent and very friendly.

The year was 1940. Chris Pelonis had a dream to open a restaurant and serve the best BAR-B-Q in the world. On a wing and a prayer, and a loan of $2,000 from his father, a Greek immigrant, he began his search for a good location. In a defunct dry cleaning shop on Tweedy Boulevard in Lynwood, Chris & Pitt's Bar-B-Q Restaurant was born. There was sawdust on the floors, wood benches, and the customers flocked in. Chris spent his days at his restaurant and his nights in his own kitchen experimenting with recipe after recipe until each one was perfect. Chris Pelonis died at age 96 on May 21, 2018.
