The # designations for the sculptures are references to Forest Lawn's Art Guide. The highest # I have found in an actual Art Guide is #1134. In addition, many numbers that appear on sculptures have been skipped in the Guide.

  • 32-foot tall 1981 re-creation of Raphael’s 1510 fresco, "Disputation of the Holy Sacrament", which is located in the papal apartments in the Vatican. This re-creation is entitled "The Paradise Mosaic". In the original, Raphael created a scene that spans both heaven and earth by including biblical figures at the top and theologians at the bottom, who discuss Transubstantiation. Here, it is located in The Garden of the Sacrament.

  • In the upper left, Old and New Testament figures fellowship. Peter holds his keys. Next to him is Adam, bearded and wearing a toga. John the Evangelist is writing the Gospel of John. King David, wearing a crown, holds a lyre. A poet and musician, David wrote many of the Psalms.
  • This scene depicts the subject of theology, and it’s filled with many great religious writers and their books. The original fresco is in the same room as Raphael’s famous “School of Athens,” which is actually about philosophy. “The School of Athens” is filled with philosophers (including Plato and Aristotle in the center), many of whom hold books that they wrote.
  • A regal lion is seated next to St. Jerome, on the left side of the altar. Jerome tamed it and removed a thorn from its paw.
