Angelus Rosedale - L.A.
Rosedale was founded in 1884 and became the 2nd U.S. cemetery with an on-site crematory in 1887. It was also the first Black-owned incorporated business in California. It became Angelus Rosedale in 1993 when purchased by Angelus Mortuary. This 55-acre cemetery, containing an estimated 100,000 interments, engulfs you and is the closest I have found in California to the charm of Savannah's Bonaventure. The sea of upright monuments puts the lie to Hubert Eaton's claim that uprights make a cemetery depressing. This is fascinating AND THERE ARE PYRAMIDS! Oh, and there has been A LOT of filming done here, from "Wedding Crashers" to "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4" and a lot of TV including Charmed, Six Feet Under, and numerous episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". The ashes of prolific murderess Louise Peete https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/7050582/louise-peete) are buried here in an unmarked grave.
