Lake Mathews
Lake Mathews is not a lake. It is a reservoir, the western terminus of the Colorado River Aqueduct. Due to a contract with Los Angeles's Metropolitan Water District (MWD), there have been no recreational facilities at the reservoir since it opened in 1940. You can't get near it. It is a major source of L.A.'s water supply for more than 8,000,000 people. The homes in the hills on the south side of the reservoir are an incredibly eclectic collection, from geodesic dome to A-frame to flat-topped stucco. The views are beautiful. Construction is ongoing.
