L.A., Gateway to Hollywood
At a traffic island at Hollywood Blvd. and La Brea Ave. stands this 30-foot gazebo. Its latticed dome, capped by a tall spire, is held up by 4 life-size sculptures. Officially the "Hollywood La Brea Gateway", the monument, erected in 1994, is a landmark welcoming you at the west edge of Hollywood. It is commonly referred to as the "Four Ladies Gazebo". Since he's nearby, "Heeeere's Elvis!". This is not Elvis's original star. It was damaged and removed after 50 years at another location. That star was one of the 8 placed on the first day of the Walk of Fame, February 9, 1960. It was at 6777 Hollywood Boulevard. This is the newer one.
