Bodies The Exhibition / Titanic

I took my 99-year-old friend, John Grant, to visit the Movieland Wax Museum. Good times. They told me this was going to be a permanent display. In 2016, it disappeared. The building is gone. But, there will be a Butterfly Palladium...

  • Today, though we would not be viewing the exhibits (yet), we stopped by the former Movieland Wax Museum in Buena Park.
  • Most Orange Countians are not aware that there was a very impressive Walk of Fame in front of the former wax museum, north of the Starbucks. It has also been removed and part of it was destroyed in the process. Here John admires Eva Gabor's foot- and hand-prints and signature.
  • John's feet didn't - quite - measure up to those of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. He did, however, outlive Junior by 9 years.
  • He REALLY liked Dorothy Lamour
  • June Allyson and Gene Autry
  • His hands were not, quite, as large as The Hulk's (Lou Ferrigno).
  • In the gift shop, there are various body parts available for purchase. As John said that his brain is about worn out, we considered this replacement part.
  • "I AM THE KING OF THE WOOOORLD!"
  • Today, we're going back to the Bodies exhibition. This time we're going in!
  • All of the bodies on display were donated by the Chinese government. They were found dead on the streets. This man is frolicking...
  • ...with his own skeleton...
  • Basketball player
  • The muscles are separated to show their structure
  • John stared into their faces
  • All of the internal organs on display are real. There are scores of explanatory dissertations about how the organs work and what can go wrong with them. John read them ALL.
  • The heart...
  • The leg circulatory system. We were both fascinated by how this system could be removed and displayed alone.
  • The liver; incredibly complex
  • Stretttttch...
  • John was kind of proud that, at age 98, he had only lost 19 inches of his 22 feet of small intestine.
